Final Rankings

Here's our final rankings for 2012-2013.  As the season progressed, the rankings really seemed to become more viable.  A few notes I find interesting:
  • Ohio State ends up 8th, yet never lost a game and never had negative points
  • Florida, the #1 team for multiple weeks ends up 9th, fractions ahead of Kansas St
  • Penn State picked up two spots by not even playing
  • Clemson ends the season 7th, picking up three spots
  • LSU is unchanged at 14.  There was a large gap between them and Oregon St, the 15th place team
  • South Carolina finishes 12th, 5 spots behind their finish in the polls

Check back later this week as we put summarize the conferences. The SEC looks to have a large gap, but who will be 2nd? The Big 12 held that spot for most of the year, but a late run by the Pac 12, including two BCS wins, may close that gap.

    1. Welcome to the board - you've really classed it up...

Is it the math you don't agree with, because the math is what it is. These rankings don't compare the players on the field or the cheerleaders on the sidelines. They only compare what happened for the 60 minutes.

For example, you went 2-2 against the 14 while Clemson went 1-2. Advantage USC. However, you lost by 30+ to a Florida team that nearly had more points than yards and slept walked through games Tennessee, Arkansas, & Wofford, teams you should have beaten by a combined hundred points. Additionally, you trailed a 2 win Kentucky team at the half and you slipped by a five loss Michigan team.

The math for those games doesn't lie. Yes, Clemson lost its 4th straight game to Wal-Mart's favorite customers, but they never failed to show up - something USC did a few times this year. And that's where the math leads us.

It is what it is. You are free to disagree, which you have exercised, but also feel free to offer suggestions on how to make the system better.

      Thanks for swinging by...

    1. Look man, I enjoy general banter and I'll discuss Clemson/USC/NASCAR - whatever you'd like, but I won't keep that kind of crap or language on here.

Feel free to rephrase it and I'll respond; however, you are only doing yourself and your team a disservice by putting those things on a public place.

It's one thing to say them, when emotions are high and it's hard to hold the tongue, but another to write it.

So - again, thanks for stopping by. Please feel free to come by and let's have some decent discussion, but don't bring that again.

  3. Failed to show up? We went friggin 11-2. Let's see....we were a touchdown favorite against UT, and won by 3. Not a huge difference, especially when you factor in Lattimore getting hurt in that game. Remember, we were cruising by 14 when he went down. Didn't show up for Arkansas? We beat them by like 17 points. Wofford I'll give you, and we killed ourselves from the get go against UF. Scraped by Michigan? We were around a 4 point favorite and won by five. Bottom line....no way you can rank Clemson 7th and USC 12th.

    1. One more thing...we didn't scrape by a five loss Michigan team. We played a Michigan team that had four losses, with three of them coming to the top three teams in the country. We gave them their fifth loss.

    2. Thanks for swinging by. The rankings was a math exhibition to see how it turned out. It began to mold and we ran with it. I find it highly interesting and will probably do it again next year.

As for UT, you were a Clowney sack away from losing or going to OT against their worst team since before Fulmer. As for UM, you did scrape by UM - with a TD pass in the last seconds.

I'll give you Arky - didn't remember it being that much of a spread, though I think they had 4-5 trips into the red zone with little to show, and there was a Pick 6 to aid the difference.

      Thanks for swinging by!
